This new series was created to continue and extend the 'Commentaria in Aristotelem Graeca', the edition of commentaries on Aristotle from Late Antiquity established from 1882-1907 at the Royal Prussian Academy in Berlin. The 'Commentaria in Aristotelem Graeca et Byzantina' extend our view of the Byzantine tradition and provide critical first editions of texts of Byzantine commentaries on Aristotle together with further source texts on the reception of Aristotle in Byzantium. The series also includes monographs and collected volumes on the provision and understanding of these texts. In this way, the foundations can be laid for decisive advances in the study and evaluation of Byzantine philosophy and knowledge about the relevant authors, copyists and recipients. The editions concentrate on commentaries on writings on natural philosophy, metaphysics, biology, psychology and on logic. Key features: The editors are internationally renowned authorities on Aristotle The series continues the de Gruyter foci on Aristotle (Bekker Edition, CAG) and critical editions to include the Byzantine era The series provides first editions of new texts closing gaps in the history of medieval philosophy and the humanities
