Environmental air pollution constitute a silent and long-term killer worldwide. It is a global threat and hence constitutes a public health emergency responsible for over 4 million deaths yearly. In Cameroon 7,000 deaths yearly are associated with air pollution. Total air suspensions in the country averages 65 µg/m3 of Particulate Matter (PM2.5) that is 6.5 times greater and nationally and 132 µg/m3 making 13.2 times greater in the city of Bamenda. This partly prompted the necessity for this research. This graduate work seeks to assess the environmental risk factors associated to acute respiratory infections (ARI). The city of Bamenda ranks amongst the world's most polluted cities with PM2.5. This book seeks to provide current trends for the association between air pollution and ARI in this city and future projection of possible scenario. Particular interest is placed on seasonal patterns and ARI outcomes. This book is one of the first research in environmental health issues in this city and provide wide socio demographic distribution of the population of Bamenda. Answers provided to why this city is highly polluted while further research is strongly encouraged to compliment.
