Preliminary text, not for publication: The monograph demonstrate the improved use of remote sensing as a monitoring/ management system by integrating the optical measurements and radiative transfer calculation of hyperspectral data in water quality issues-algal blooms. It demonstrates methods and analysis approaches that have been used to datasets to improve detection and characterization of nearshore water quality issues in order to provide the managers and planners to improve the conditions for reducing the frequency and extent of such blooms. The work should further research and potentially lead to improved understanding on the characteristics of algal blooms important in global climate change studies.
