The marmor numidicum, also known as Giallo antico, is one of the most widespread colored marbles of antiquity, quarried in Simitthus, today Chimtou in Tunisia. The aim of this work is to present for the first time a holistic case study of that marble by combining the results from different disciplines. The basis is a material survey to record the spectrum of use and distribution of this marble in the Mediterranean region from the 2nd century B.C. to the 3rd century A.D. Conclusions about the marble trade and the actors involved are drawn from the spectrum of use and distribution.
