The advancement in nanomaterial synthesis, and its use in electrocatalysis, has attracted significant attention from researchers due to its interesting results. In this context, tuning the physicochemical properties of the nanomaterial significantly increases the rate of reaction during electrocatalysis. The properties of nanomaterials, such as electrical conductivity, porosity, topography, surface area to volume ratio, and the type/nature of electrocatalytic active centres, directly affect the intermediate adsorption free energy, charge-transfer kinetics, and reaction kinetics of electrochemical reactions.
