Anotace knihy

The advancement in nanomaterial synthesis, and its use in electrocatalysis, has attracted significant attention from researchers due to its interesting results. In this context, tuning the physicochemical properties of the nanomaterial significantly increases the rate of reaction during electrocatalysis. The properties of nanomaterials, such as electrical conductivity, porosity, topography, surface area to volume ratio, and the type/nature of electrocatalytic active centres, directly affect the intermediate adsorption free energy, charge-transfer kinetics, and reaction kinetics of electrochemical reactions. Nanomaterials for Electrocatalysis provides an overview of different types of nanomaterials,design principles and synthesis protocols used for electrocatalytic reactions. Furthermore, engineering or modification protocols of nanomaterials are also discussed to tailor the electrocatalytic activity. The electrochemical systems containing nanomaterials, with relevance to experimental situation, yield better results. Highly porous nanomaterials, metal-organic frameworks, and metal-ion complexes, adsorb the chemical species during electro-catalysis, and either reaction or product can significantly affect the kinetics of electrochemical reaction. The book has been divided into four parts, which thoroughly describe the basic principles and fundamental of electrocatalysis, different types of nanomaterial used, their electrocatalytic applications, limitations, and future perspectives.
