Anotace knihy

Although there is general agreement in the research with thepresent accounting of the incidence of school bullying, and of thelong-term consequences to self-esteem and mental health, little isknown about what initiates and maintains bullying. A review of theliterature reveals that school bullying is usually attributed tomaladapted individuals, and is associated with aggression,primitive levels of moral behaviour, and the instrumental use andmisuse of power. Past personal history, attachment experiences andthe influence of cultural models may be included as contributingfactors for aggression, but none of these factors tells the wholestory. There is a rich history of research and philosophyconcerning aggression, but still little understanding.
